I don't know where text settings are located to set the text to smaller size? Could you please tell me? And is this possible to vertically align the text? Video: How do I write text within those boxes as shown in the video? Please let me know. Video: Please guide me. It would nice of you. Quote
designerstuart Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 it would be nice of us but it would also be nice of you to check help files / search online before asking lots of simple questions...... most of these questions can be answered from within the comfort of your AutoCAD software! Quote
designerstuart Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 if using multitext - select first corner - command line now says Specify opposite corner or [Height/Justify/Line spacing/Rotation/Style/Width/Columns]: Quote
Ryder76 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Using the help files will be of benefit to you, but I do understand how frustrating it can be when sometimes you don't even know what to look up in them to get what you want. Check for MTEXT, DTEXT, or text. I have found that the easiest text method is MTEXT. Quote

Hi Stuart I understand what you are saying. But Ryder have it right: but I do understand how frustrating it can be when sometimes you don't even know what to look up in them to get what you want. I'm also an English learner so I believe you could understand it also adds to the frustration. And beside this I don't want to miss the pleasure of learning from you guys! Thanks. Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 jackson6612, AutoCAD makes getting helpfiles for just about any command very easy. For instance, if you want to create text but don't know how to arrange it the way you want, type in the "text" command, then hit your F1 key. The help file for "text" pops up like magic. This also works if you start the command from a toolbar button or a pull down menu. It won't help you with any custom commands you may have created with autolisp, but for the standard stuff that comes with AutoCAD, it will help you out. Give it a try, I think you'll like it. --edit-- I almost forgot...many of the commands that start dialog boxes have a "help" button somewhere on the dialog box too. Quote
jackson6612 Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 Jack, thanks a lot. I will give it a try! Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 You're welcome. Another thing you can do is to go to the "tools" menu and bring up the options dialog box. Find the "tool tips" boxes and turn them on if they aren't already. As a new user, you may find these helpful. With them turned on, pausing over the various buttons will pop up the name of the command and a brief explanation of what it does. A longer pause will give an extended description, and either will give you a chance to get even more help without actually starting the command by hitting the F1 button. See the examples below. After you gain more knowledge and experience you'll probably want to turn them back off as they can be annoying if you don't need them. Quote

Keep your eye on the command line, after you pick the first point for the text it is showing you the text height, 6.8 approx., type in any amount you want, hit enter and proceed. If you have express tools loaded then after you place the text you can use TCIRCLE and watch the command line for what to do next. Some of us don't mind beginners asking questions (especially in the Beginners forum) so don't be discouraged by those that don't want to help. Quote
