Funky Pasta Tommy Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Hi folks, hoping I can get some help with perhaps good books or website you may know of that will help me understand technical drawings more so then the use of AutoCAD as a tool. I've recently started learning 2D AutoCAD and to my surprise have picked up how to use the programme itself rather quickly and easily. It's all staying with me rather well and I'm happy with that. However, some of the drawings I'm being asked to do are giving me a slight amount of trouble. I have my first test coming up for my evening class and I'm a little bit nervous about it as, I can get a little bit held up on reading technical drawings. Once I understand them, I have no real problems replicating them, but it's the understanding them that I can't always get my head around, and so I was wondering if anyone has some recommendations on websites or books I should look at to help get my head around how to break down a drawing. Sadly my experience when it comes to technical drawings is rather limited and I feel if I could get my head around this, the programe itself should be a relative breeze. Thanks in advance! Quote
ReMark Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 What kinds of drawings exactly? Books I'd recommend: Technical Graphics Communication by Bertoline & Webe (McGraw-Hill) Mastering AutoCAD 20xx & AutoCAD LT 20xx by George Omura (Sybex) Quote
eklektikus Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 the programe itself should be a relative breeze. R...r...r...i...g...h...t. Quote
Bill Tillman Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Books are great and I've read just about all of them out there. But if you're a cheap, lazy bum like me, don't forget to do google and yahoo searches for: autocad tutorials There are thousands of on-line docs and most come with pictures and diagrams. I've learned the bulk of my autocad skills on-line. Since most of the books out there cost between $34 and $59 US, this money could be better invested elsewhere. Quote
ReMark Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Check out the LINKS section of CADTutor where you'll find a couple of references to other websites with AutoCAD tutorials. You can also find some at the AutoDesk website. Just type the word "tutorial" in the search box. Some are specific to metric users too. Quote
JPlanera Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 He doesnt need autocad tutorials, that part is a breeze... he needs to learn how to read technical drawings? Quote
ReMark Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Well the OP does say that AutoCAD "should be a breeze". But maybe, just maybe, he'll hit something that will seem more like a storm. Remember the Cub Scout motto: Be Prepared. Quote
