edoubleu Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I've searched quite a bit on the board to find a solution to this issue, but have not come across anything. I've read about the elevation Z problem with fuzzy looking text, but that's not it. The issue we are having is that the text in model space looks rough or jagged compared to text in paper space. The text style being used is the same throughout the drawing. If I copy the 'rough looking' text from model space and paste it into paper space, it looks fine. This display issue also comes through when we print the drawings. It looks just as rough and doesn't print our crisp. Now, of course this doesn't always happen, but it has happened often enough to be a problem. We are using Land Desktop Companion 2008 and the font that we use throughout our drawings is Trebuchet MS. Any thoughts to a solution would be great. Thanks I've attached a jpg of a screenshot showing this issue. The above callout is in MS and the bottom callout is in PS. They both have the same text style attributes. Quote
ReMark Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I have a solution but you are not going to like it. Stop using TTF fonts. I told you so. Quote
nestly Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 3 things will cause AutoCAD to stop using anti-aliasing (smoothing) for TrueType fonts. 1) If the text has a Z value other than 0 relative to the UCS 2) If the visual style is anything other than 2D wireframe 3) If the "target of the view has a value that is not 0 Since your image shows two instances of the text in the same view, I believe your problem is the first. Even though the text properties say it's at 0, I believe it's not. Move it up in elevation, then bring it back to 0, or use "Flatten" Quote
nestly Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Actually, after looking at your image a bit closer, I believe the upper text is rotated relative to the X-axis since it's noticeably shorter than the text below it. Quote

bass_mark00 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Could be a Z value issue or UCS. Is the UCS set to WORLD on model space? Quote
nestly Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Yeah, I'm pretty sure the text is not perpendicular to the view. Quote
edoubleu Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 bass_mark00: UCS is set to world in model space. nestly: the text perpendicular to the view. I could be in MS copy the text and then paste it into PS and it will look fine. I know the top text 'looks' shorter, but if I place one over the other they are the same size. Quote
nestly Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 If you can post the drawing, I'm sure we can show you why the text is not smooth. Quote
edoubleu Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 Thanks for link FAHIM108. I actually went through the DVIEW reset that was posted by nestly on that thread. I did it in model space first and the text looked correct. I then went to paper space, noticed the text still looked wrong, so I figured my viewport was off. Went into the viewport, ran through the same DVIEW procedure and everything looked perfect. I just had to reset the VP scale and pan to get view correct. Quote
