lisplost Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Does anyone know where the dim command code is located when first starting Autocad. I did not see it in ACAD.pgp. I am trying to figure out why dim starts the dimension command but it is not called out as the shortcut for this. Thanks for the help. Quote
lpseifert Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 It'a a legacy thing From Help DIM and DIM1 (Quick Reference) function Accesses Dimensioning mode Command entry: dim or dim1 Dim: Enter a Dimensioning mode command The Dim prompt indicates that you're in Dimensioning mode, in which you can use a special set of dimensioning commands. (DIM and DIM1 are provided only for compatibility with previous releases.) Use DIM to remain in Dimensioning mode after you have used a dimensioning command. Use DIM1 to execute a dimensioning command and immediately return to the Command prompt. To exit Dimensioning mode, enter e or exit, or press ESC. IIRC, in the dark ages you had to invoke DIM (or DIM1) prior to dimensioning. Quote
