Hello everybody,

I have this problem in some drawing, i don't now why and i also don't know how to solve it. I try to reset scale list - then i receive this message: "Unhandled exception has ocuured in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Index was outside the bounds of the array."

Any help, please? A sample drawing with this problem is attached. Thanks!!

Which version of ACad are you using (the file is saved as 2004) - the file contains a huge amount of scales in the list? If earlier than 2011, you may want to update it to the newest service pack available. Then you also need to clean your existing DWGs - google for a free utility from ADesk called Scale List Cleanup Utility.

Your file contained 64 XREF scales and several hundred scales like 1:1_4_5_6 .... that tels me you use RefEdit constantly. It's got known issues for creating strange layer / dimstyle / textstyle names like these, and always makes for these scales as well. I prefer to never use RefEdit at all, due to other problems as well ... but if you do, take note to clean your drawing every time you use it.

BTW, 2011 cleaned up the DWG without a problem. But when I tried doing the same in 2008, acad crashed on me after pushing my PC's RAM usage up to 3.6GB.

Here's your DWG finally cleaned using Vanilla 2008 (hopefully the Map 3D objects weren't broken). Vanilla and ACA 2011 warns that the Map objects will be upgraded so you won't be able to reuse the DWG in your 2008.

The credit goes to irneb as he hit on the fix right away. All I did was provide a link.

Glad to hear the utility worked for you.

Thanks for updating us.

Ditto ... it was a pleasure.

Just make sure you've got the latest updates / service pack for your ACad, otherwise you'll find this problem reoccurring constantly. At least that way, most of this problem disappears - not all but most.
