qball Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I have this beam saddle and I needed to copy 2 of the holes. So I used Copy Face. It copied the face but it didn't create a hole in the side plate. I tried Subtract, Extrude, Intersect. new block.dwg Quote
ReMark Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 When you did that you ended up with two surfaces. You weren't expecting that now were you? Quote
qball Posted January 13, 2011 Author Posted January 13, 2011 after copying the face I was hoping for a hole. But I got my solid (unchanged, really) and a separate tubular face. Quote
ReMark Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 You must have deselcted the remainder of the rectangular face. The "separate tubular face" as you call it is in fact a surface. Check its properties if you don't believe me. And forget using the Convert-to-Solid command as it won't work. In the time it took you to create this thread and respond you could have created the remaining two holes. Quote
qball Posted January 13, 2011 Author Posted January 13, 2011 yes, i drew a circle and push-pull. So am I to assume that Copy Face simply does not work like I expected it to. If it did, it would be faster than Circle, push-pull, and this thread. Quote
ReMark Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 The complaint department is down the hall and the second door on the left. Don't knock; they're expecting you. Speak to Mr. Idgas. Send him my regards. LOL Really, I'm just kidding. What can I say though? I didn't write the program. I suggest you add this feature (copy portion of a solid) to the AUGI wish list. Maybe AutoDesk will incorporate it in release 2013 if you hurry. Quote
Raudel Solis Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 yeah though they will probably realease autocad 2013 6 months before 2013 Quote
