Hi all,

I am using AutoCAD LT 2007 and have been having problems with 2D drafting. I draw two lines, both have Z coordinates of zero yet when I try to fillet them I get a command saying 'The lines are non coplanar'... how can I rectify this? I dont have the flatten tool in LT.

Also, when I list the properties of the lines, it gives a '3D length' value... what does this mean?

Cheers for any assistance.

Are you sure you are working in LT? LT is purely 2D and as far as I know each point has only 2 coordinates X and Y, no Z. It's a very long time since I used LT and I'm a bit rusty.

Post a drawing with your problem.

You can use this macro to flatten everything in the Z axis to an elevation of 0.

^C^C_move;_all;;0,0,0;0,0,1e99;_move;_p;;0,0,0;0,0,-1e99;

@ ReMark,

In your macro what does "1e99" and "-1e99" mean or do? I've seen something like this before but it was from Kean Walmsley and I seem to remember it was an escape sequence or similar.

@ ReMark,

Wow, I didn't know that :o But its very logical. Does a Quantum Mechanic come from beyond the AutoCAD universe boundaries .

Thanks for the wisdom.

I received my Quantum Mechanic status when I finished all the coursework at the Mr. Goodwrench School of AutoMotive and Spaceship Repair.

Another option in LT is the good, old, CHANGE command. One of the options is ELEVATION.

Wisdom is only good if it is shared. You're entirely welcomed Tyke.

Thanks guys, I have gotten all the lines with no z coordinates, however the problem I have is that it still states that the lines are non coplanar and wont let me fillet them.

Also when I select a group of lines and type LIST, I see that they are all at z value 0, yet it sometimes gives a value for '3D length'. I dont know where this comes from. I am using AutoCAD LT 2007 for definite.

Can you post the drawing? Leave off the title block, border, notes, and dimensions. Just include all model space objects.

Tyke, that actually is not true (but I'll forgive you because of your disclaimer) :)

You can draw in in LT by entering 3d coordinates and you have 3d viewing capabilities as well. You can not create solid body objects nor render them but you can open and insert a solid model with LT.

Post a dwg so that we might see what you are working with.

Depending on your precision, rounding may display an elevation of 0 even if it is not. I think ReMark's suggestion is likely to work, otherwise I also recommend attaching the drawing.
