Saint_Edward_3rd Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I just plotted a drawing and noticed the the veiwport frame printed. I didn't want it plotted. So I check to make sure it was on the correct layer and the plot setting was on the 'do not plot' setting. But it still plots? What gives? Any ideas? Never had this problem before and really stumped. ReMark Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Freeze the layer your viewport frame is on. What do you see? Quote
designerstuart Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 as i think remark is hinting at, there maybe a polyline under it. select the viewport using right-left crossing polygon selection... does it show up in properties as 2 objects? Quote
Dana W Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Sometimes, if your viewport frame is not fully inside the printable area, a frame or line can appear at the edge of the printable area. It may depend on your printer and driver. I just make sure my viewport is just inside the dashed line in paper space. Quote
Saint_Edward_3rd Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 I will respond to each comment. ReMark-Layer frozen, still shows in plot preview Designerstuart - When selecting viewport with a right-left select, only one(1) object selected in properties Dana W - Title block and veiwport are both within the dashed area I even created a new layer and moved the viewport to that layer and it still shows up. CyberAngel Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Obviously the viewport is clipped, so there should be two objects, not one. Is the single object a polyline or a viewport? What happens if you turn off the viewport layer and then print? Quote
Saint_Edward_3rd Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 Sorry, you were right designerstuart and CyberAngel. I just looked again and there were two object selected. One veiwport and polyline. Is there a way to seperate the two? When I single select the viewport (by left clicking it) it still shows as two objects. Quote
CyberAngel Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 If it's not a pure rectangular viewport, you can't separate the polyline from the viewport. You can, however, put them both on the same layer. That may take care of your problem. Quote
ccowgill Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 not sure, as I havent read the entire thread, but if you have a clipped viewport, or not rectangular, and you freeze the layer, autocad seems to ignore the clipped/non rectangular portions of the viewport and prints as though it is rectangular. (sorry if this has nothing to do with your question) Quote
