Marc5 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Two different questions. 1. I am unable to copy a line that I did on Defpoint Layer. Why? I would like to. This layer is not locked. 2. I need to Isolate a few layers. The layers containing the door block and wall type do not remain visible when selected. However, layers containing lines do remain. Is there a toggle? These layers are not locked either. Thanks. Quote
ReMark Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 You'll often find that objects on the Defpoints layer become unselectable. That layer is there for a reason specific to dimensioning and really shouldn't be used to anything else. Have you tried QSelect? Quote
ccowgill Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 when you isolate layers, just because the block is on that layer doesnt mean the line objects within the block are, therefore they get shut off and you cant see it. You probably need to find out what layers are used within the block and manually turn those back on after you have isolated your layer. Quote
Marc5 Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 Okay. I like to use the defpoint layer by putting reference lines, etc. on it that I want to be visible on the drawing but do not want to plot. I know I can make a layer and turn off plotting, just do not draw that way. Also, just noticed that the defpoint layer becomes unusable only when I isolate it. Have no issues with it if not isolated. ReMark Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 "I know I can make a layer and turn off plotting, just do not draw that way." That explains just about everything. OIE - Operator Induced Error. Nothing can be done about these types of errors without some effort. Quote
ccowgill Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 defpoints becomes unusable when you isolate it, because layer 0 needs to be on to do anything with the defpoints info. so it is best just not to use defpoints for anything. creating layers is simple enough. Quote
Marc5 Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 Alright......Will work on breaking the OLD habit or should I say OIE. As always.....Thanks for the advice. Quote
