Two problems related to viewport scale

I've copy/ pasted a detail from one drawing to another, and now have hundreds of "X-Ref......" scale factors in my VP Scale menu. When I try to use scalelistedit, I get this message:

 

Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.

 

Index was outside the bounds of the array"

 

When I click continue, nothing happens and the command line refreshes itself. What does this message mean, and how can I fix the problem so that I can use scalelistedit?

 

Second problem - when I try to change the scale of a viewport using my properties manager, I get this message:

 

"Invalid argument scale in setting standardscale property". It won't allow me to change the scale.

 

How do I fix this?
