themoffster Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Could someone tell me how i go about creating custom furniture in AutoCAD 2010 so that i can import them into a project? I am able to add the furniture that ships with the AutoCAD, however I can't see a way to specify the dimensions of the default furniture hence trying to create my own. I am doing this as i am trying to see how well a suite would fit in a new house. I've never used AutoCAD before, but I pick up software very quickly. I did a search but couldn't see anything of relevance. Cheers. Quote
ReMark Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Will you be working in 2D (as with a floor plan) or in 3D? Quote
JPlanera Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) You are trying to edit "blocks". Without a knowledge of autocad, you might find yourself pulling your hair out. But... since you pick up software easily... pick a piece of furniture you wish to edit, type EXPLODE then pick the furniture. It is now in a state where you can change it... Welcome to the Forums, btw!! Edited January 20, 2011 by JPlanera Where are my manners??? Quote
themoffster Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 I will be working in 2D as the laptop j ave isn't powerful enough for 3D. I will try the 'explode' command. Thanks Quote
JPlanera Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) nevermind... I posted a link to a tutorial, and changed my mind as it really was pretty bad... Edited January 20, 2011 by JPlanera changed my mind Quote
ReMark Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Make sure to create all your new furniture blocks on layer "0". That way, when you place them on a layer they will assume the properties (linetype and color) of that layer. You should draw all objects in model space at FULL size. Quote
