dswinty Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 I am putting together a catalog with some drawings from AC 2010. I am drawing in model space and printing in paper space. The view port scale is 1:1. If I print directly from Autocad to the printer, everything is fine. If I first plot to PDF from Autocad and then print, the dimensions are off by about 1/8". The dimensions read correctly, but they do not measure correctly. The paper size is 8 1/2 x 11. I would like these PDF files to be accurate in case someone needs to print them. I have tried saving to dwf and then printing and printing out of Design Review but it doesn't make any difference. My settings in Adobe are 1:1 as far as I can tell. I would appreciate any help. JPlanera Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Pardon me for asking the obvious, but are you setting the pdf plot scale 1:1? Quote
dswinty Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 Yes, I have it set to 1:1. It is kind of strange that the PDF print out is not really just out of scale. I have a horizontal dimension showing 3 3/8" and next to is a vertical dimension showing 2 3/4" and both dimension measure about an 1/8" short. I am not sure what is happening. Quote
BIGAL Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Welcome to the mystery of printing pds'f all I can say is our guys have given up trying to plot a external pdf to a scale of 1:1 the source of the problem seems to be the actual pdf writer you use some people will say no problem any one out there got a 100% answer. SLW210 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 What plot area are you plotting? Window, Extents, Display, Layout? How about a screen shot of plot setup. I have found that plotting Layout has less than desired location results when plotting PDF's. Quote
tzframpton Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 When printing the PDF, if you are using Adobe Acrobat Reader, there is an option under Page Scaling that usually is defaulted to "Shrink to Printable Area". Is this set to "None"? Quote

ReMark Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 BlueBeam PDF Revu will plot accurately but the downside is it ain't free! "Money for nothing and your chicks for free." Quote

dswinty Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 OK, here are the settings I am using to print the PDF's generated from Autocad. The printer is set to 100%, no scaling. Dswinty PDF Settings.pdf Quote
tzframpton Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 You can use Design Review to easily open a PDF and pull dimensions to see if the PDF file is being affected by AutoCAD or the Printer. Quote
