Our company has an issue with plotting drawings that contain Truetype fonts. We like to create pdf's of our drawings to reduce paper use. When plotting to a PDF the truetype fonts get a little muddy and bold, rather than statying crisp and clean.

When i do a plot preview, everything looks great. But once i go to the PDF that was created all the truetype text appears muddy and bold.

Our PDF output is currently 600 dpi.

Any advice on how to modify the output of the PDF witer or any CAD setting that may be causing this. We have since created lisp routines to create .shx files out of all true type fonts to avoid the muddy text. So far its the only thing that works, but it is still muddy then.

Thanks,

I and many others have had issues with AutoCAD 2009 and older doing the same thing. I downloaded and installed TrueView (free) from the AutoDesk website and use it for plotting pdf's now. Clear and precise. Works like a charm.

You just open the dwg file from TrueView and it looks and works like AutoCAD to plot except you can't draw with it. An added advantage is that TrueView can convert dwg files to be compatible with older releases of AutoCAD.

One weird thing is though, once you open a dwg in TrueView, opening any dwg file from the windows directory tree by double clicking the dwg file will result in the dwg file opening in TrueView. To fix this, simply open any dwg file from within your AutoCAD program Open dialog instead of just clicking the windows file.

It looks like (guessing) the AutoCAD drawing launcher program remembers the last AutoDesk product to open a dwg file and uses that program, until another one is used. I surmise that the drawing launcher program is at fault rather than TrueView.

Awesome,

We just tried a new PDF with the DWG True View and it worked!

Thats the simplist solution weve come across so far.

Thanks a ton!
