Lindsayryan427 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Hello, My office is trying to create dynamic blocks with dynamic attributes. We have the dynamic blocks created. Does anyone have step by step instructions on how to create the attributes or does anyone know of where I can find them. Thanks! Lindsay Quote
MikeMc52 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Exactly what kind of attributes are you trying to add to the blocks? Can you give us an idea as to why you want to add attributes to the blocks. I recently started adding attributes to my blocks in order to create a BOM and usage information. It was really quite simple after reading the help files on dynamic blocks and attributes. However if I know what you are doing and if I can help I will reply to your post. Quote
Lindsayryan427 Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 We are actually trying to add it for the same reason, to create our BOM. The dynamic blocks are working out great but now if we can take it one step further and create the BOM, that would save us a lot of time. Thanks! Quote
MikeMc52 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Use the DATAEXTRACTION command which will open the data extraction wizard. From this you can create a table in the drawing or an MS Excel file. You may be able to do both, but I only made the Excel file as I was going to add more info to the file. When I am finished I was going to copy (which will link the Excel file to the drawing to allow for updating) the Excel file to the drawing. I learned most this from the help files under “data extraction”. We have been using Excel files as BOM for the drawing for sometime but now we make the BOM from the block information. Quote
