stenews Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 (edited) Hi guys, I attached a drawing showing a main frame of a door . What I'm not able to do is to "revolve" the upper right and left corner of this frame along the path I sketched for you. I hope that someone of you guys looking at this file will be able to help me. Thanks for any help. Stefano. prova_portone.dwg Edited February 12, 2011 by stenews Quote
kencaz Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I don't see what your attempting to revolve... Where is the Axis...? KC Quote

SEANT Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Are you trying to do something like this? prova_portoneOption.dwg Quote
stenews Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 Hi SEANT and thanks for your reply it's absolutely one of the smartest interpretation I seen before! BWT I was thinking to cut off at certain point the curve and to reach the top part in a square way Thank you very much indeed P.S. could you briefly explain me how to do it by myself? In case I decide to use your personal interpretation, how to finish to extrude the back side of it? Quote
SEANT Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I created a circle (two point option) to find the center and copied that circle along the Y axis. The centers of the two circles form the axis for use with the REVOLVE command. The lintel suggested a plane, so I cut back the region you already had in place. Quote
stenews Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 @SEANT brilliant....I got it:) let me ask you the very last think...in case I don't want all circular but only the first part so that I can go straight on for the last part? like I did in my proposal sketch section? prova_portoneOption2.dwg Quote
SEANT Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Can you elaborate? I don't understand what is meant by 'first part', 'last part'. What or where is the 'proposal sketch'? Quote
stenews Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 the architrave should start rounded and after came straight to the end... section.dwg Quote
stenews Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 @SEANT finally I did what I was really looking for! BTW I say many thanks to you for your help, I couldn't do that without your great help, you boast me up prova_portone.pdf Quote
stenews Posted February 20, 2011 Author Posted February 20, 2011 @SEANT sorry mate, but I need you help one more time. Do you remember the door frame we discuss...? well I should make to it 5 cuts per each vertical part in way that at end it should look shrink around the cut. I can understand that my explanation will sound to you terrible unclear...but I don't know at moment how to manage my description in a way better than that I hope you will understand me...thanks in any way Bye, Stefano Quote
SEANT Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Yes, that description is not very clear. Can you draw what you mean? Even a 2D drawing will give us a better idea what is required. Quote
stenews Posted February 21, 2011 Author Posted February 21, 2011 I hope this will help you to understand my needs... prova_portone.pdf Quote
Sittingbull Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Is this helping any? prova_portone_cutted.dwg Quote
stenews Posted February 21, 2011 Author Posted February 21, 2011 @Sittingbull you got it!! how did you do that?? that's what I was looking for...but the horizontal section looks bit different doesn't it? Quote
Sittingbull Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Glad you like it. First i exploded your area, then i used pedit to make a polyline.Made an offset of that line(inwards). Tweaked a bit and extruded the shape:wink:. Best regards, SB Quote
