G_TAK Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I guess this is a question or a challenge depending on how much experience is necessary to answer the question. I had been using this program since like back in the 90's on all versions of ACAD up until ver16.......it hasn't worked since and now it will also not work on 2011. Surprisingly there are a number modules and functions in this old program that I could really... really use in 3D modeling in 2011. The program went free for the taking after they stopped supporting @ ver 16. I was wondering if anyone could answer the question "Why will this not work" in ACAD 2011? I have look thru it as best as I can but my lisp knowledge stops way short of what is needed. This program is a mass of different lisp routines all tied together thru screen choices. The program was called "Mech Modules" maybe some people even remember this program. If anyone is using ACAD 2006 or prior I am suggesting to use it and see the functionallity. In the same statement maybe someone will take the challenge to see "Why it will not work" in 2011. Due to the upload limit I am unable to place this program (4.5Mg) on the forum...if anyone wants a copy to try or try & fix, just let me know & I will send a copy by "YouSendIt" to anyone who wants it. Thanks in advance....all questions are welcome ~G~ Quote
Guest kruuger Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Hi G_TAK there is many sites where you can upload your code and we can download it and investigate kruuger Quote
G_TAK Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 Thanks, http://d01.megashares.com/dl/db6ef6f/mech-modules.ZIP Actually that is easier here is the file for download... Quote

G_TAK Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 OK...sorry Mega shares is 1 link @ a time....someone must be downloading Quote
Guest kruuger Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 what kind of error autocad return (tomorrow i try to run this on 2011)? all files are proteced or arx files. maybe you need arx for 2011. because there is no supportyou rather can't do anything wiht this kruuger Quote
G_TAK Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 After installation of this program and the toolbar is loaded, 2011 reports this error on the pick of any icon: error: no function definition: EMT_GETAPPPATH Quote

Sittingbull Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Maybe you could describe what you need of this program. Have you looked around on the forum to see if there is something you can use? SB Quote
G_TAK Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 I was really hoping that someone could figure out just what was stopping this program from working & come up with a fix. To answer one of your questions, No I haven't looked on this forum for other programs because I thought this was fixable & I still hope so. Surprisingly this old program has features that are seriously lacking in current ACAD and are not available in any of the "Add-On" programs I have been able to research. Because I deal with mechanical drawings all the time and the generation of simple 3d models there is always a ton of nuts, bolts, screws & holes of all kinds to be placed and shown accurately in models & drawings. I will briefly describe only 2 of the features that are most missed that I was looking to have working: 1. First is the parametric creation of just about any hole condition, counterbore, countersink, drilled, reamed, etc, etc in either 2d or also in solid so it can be inserted right into the model or drawing and be added, subtracted, copied, etc, etc. It is so great to just pick the feature you wish to use set a few parameters and create. This is only one thing but it is so great to generate a full thread detailed & featured tapped hole with over-drill & countersink in seconds, insert and use. As always time is $$$$ 2. Next is called "MakeIt 2D" this feature will take any picked solid from the drawing and generate up to all 8 2D views based on choices of -any chosen layer -with or without hidden lines -section views and more. If chosen, these block views also can be saved and used in any future drawings, very handy & makes flatshot look bad. If someone took flatshot and added a bunch of features and automated it....might be close. I realize that these features and functionality somewhat mirror solidworks toolbox and many higher end solids programs.........but for an old add-in program to be fast, featured and "Now Free" this is great to have. I have only described a few features of this program and possibly not very well but I hope everyone gets the idea. ~G~ Quote
Sittingbull Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Seems like u could use Mechanical pack. Maybe you could propose this kinda investment at work? The other fuction u describe looks like the "flatten" command. Did u try it? Quote
irneb Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 programs works only up to 2006 (v16).sorry but you cant't use it on newest autocad kruuger Yep, a lot of that is using ARX - which unfortunately has to be compiled (at least) for each major version of ACad. Sometimes even needs some modifications to the source-code. And since the source code isn't included, you're out of luck - maybe contact the original program's owners. My guess is that they've discontinued the code since it's available elsewhere - as Sittingbull's shown. Although the "flatten" I'd assume is not "really" what you're after ... more like "SolProf" perhaps? But then most of the verticals of ACad would generate the views / sections from the model on the fly - not just mechanical. Quote
