brianchallis Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with 12GB ram with a fixed virtual memory of 24GB; Dell Precision T3500 desktop with Nvidia Quadro 2000 video card . Product is ACAD Mechanical Desktop 2005 and Mechanical 2010 (same problem occurs in each version). My problem is I am building a large assembly with approximately 8000 (ish) parts and when I open the main assembly it freezes and will not open the drawing. As I mentioned, this happens in 2005 and 2010. I have already run recoveries on the drawings and it detects no errors. Upon the opening freeze, windows claims that CPU usage is 25% and Physical memory is 27%. Any ideas? Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 If you've tried it on 2 different systems and you get the same result, sounds to me like you may have some corrupted data that the recovery routine can't fix. Back in the old days when I was using MDT, 8000 parts was not an unusual amount of stuff to have in an assembly so I can't see it being a memory issue. The computers we had then were far less capable than the one you just described. Are all of your parts and subassemblies contained in that one file, or have you saved them out in thier own drawings? If you've saved sub-assemblies out separately you could piece it back together if you had to. If you have a backup drawing of the one your having trouble with, you might rename the extension and try that too. Quote
