Hey all, it's been a while and I don't want to bore those that don't know me with my whereabouts, so let me be brief.

Since I'm back to working with ACAD (MEP2011) I wanted to create a couple Macros for myself and I cannot for the life of me remember what all the symbols and commands were. I used to have a "cheat sheet" that a former co-worker gave me, but that has since disappeared. :ouch:

Seeing as how I don't even know the proper terminology, I have come up empty handed with my searches. If someone would be so kind as to give me the appropriate terminology so I may go searching, I would appreciate it!

What type of macros do you want to write? VBA, DIESEL, script, LISP,...

 Would you believe that I"m not really sure which one of those applies? Let me see if I can describe it better. If indeed by the description you can term it using one of the above you mentioned, then I may be able to search for my answer even further. I am moving from HVAC to Electrical and I wanted to create a couple simple buttons to ease me through. It's how I started drafting for HVAC.

I"m not comfortable (nor knowledgeable at all) with LISP, so trying to create one is out of the question for now.

I created the above macros myself and was pretty good at it at the time. But there was a two year hiatus since I last spent a significant time around ACAD and so I've forgotten a lot of what I learned. And since I've moved from ACAD 2010 to MEP2011, I feel even more out of place.

So back to your original question, I hope the above Screen Cap will help shed light on which type of macro I'm looking for. I at least know it's not a LISP.

And I do apologize in advance for my lack of concise verbiage.

Try using palettes, Ctrl+3 to switch them on. Draw your entity with all of its properties on screen, click it to activate it and then click it again but not on a grip, wait a second and then drag it onto your palette. The macro you circled there you can use in the command string. There's plenty of info out there on palettes and in the help files to get you going.

Good luck :)

Ipseifert what I was looking for was there, "Special Control Characters". I forget that the search box in ACAD/MEP is useless for actually finding what I want and that if I need to find something I should stick to looking things up in the online User Guide. Like I said before, it's been a long while since I have had the pleasure of working with ACAD or MEP for that matter.

Tyke, thank you for your suggestion as well! When I have a little time I plan on exploring this!

Thank you both!
