Rudbeckia Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I am trying to create a really curvy, swooping, path. Is the spline the best tool for me to use? If so if there a way for me to add grips wherever I want to after I have drawn the line? Quote

Rudbeckia Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Thank you , I dont need arcs though. Quote
Rudbeckia Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 I want to create curves like this picture. What tool should I use you think? Quote
tzframpton Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I want to create curves like this picture. What tool should I use you think? Have you even tried it? Give it a try. Trust me, I use it all the time. And I can create stuff exactly like that picture. the "Arced" PLINE simply makes a continuous curve. It's not the ARC command at all. It's exactly what you're looking for I'm sure. Most people would probably say that Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw would be more the program to do what you're wanting. Quote
Rudbeckia Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Okay, sorry, yes i did try the polyline arc but I just got a regular arc line, I must be doing something wrong i will keep playing with it. Quote
Rudbeckia Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Okay your right, I am getting better at it thanks! I have this drawn out by hand exactly the way I want it, would it help do you think if I scanned that into cad and drew on top of it? Also so sometimes when i use the spline the grips are on the line and sometimes they are away from the line. Away from the line is easier to adjust, what do I do differently to make the grips away from the spline line? Quote

I would recommend doing this, for sure. Quote
Rudbeckia Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Great thanks, any idea on how I make the spline have grips not on the line? Quote
rustysilo Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Perhaps it would be good if you explained what you'll be doing with this after you get it into cad format. Is it for a logo or a printing project? Some people find that for logo's it's enough to just reference them into their cad dwgs. Quote
Rudbeckia Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 No its not a logo, and the curves will not look exactly like the picture, the picture is just an idea of the curves I am trying to make, this is for a landscape design. Quote
Rudbeckia Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 What do you mean by just reference them? Quote
rustysilo Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Ah I see. I just mean to attach the image as you would to trace it. Quote
Rudbeckia Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Thanks, i am going to try that. Quote
nocturne00 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I want to create curves like this picture. What tool should I use you think? I think its best if you use spline at first, its such a complex piece to work on. then for editing, convert the spline to a polyline. using flatten on the polyline is the quickest way to convert it Quote
