sbro238 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knew if dwg format drawings were available for a Toyota landcruiser series 70? Most other major commercial vehicle manufacturers (Isuzu, Hino, Mitsubishi) have drawings of their units available on their websites, but for some reason not Toyota. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Seth. Quote

ReMark Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Maybe someone has already accomplished the task of drawing the vehicle in AutoCAD. Try a search over at the CAD Block Exchange Network. Quote

stevsmith Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Damn, I just notice that it was a cad drawing you were looking for. If you have a vector trace program you could convert it over yourself. Quote
sbro238 Posted March 1, 2011 Author Posted March 1, 2011 Thanks for the replies guys. Remark - Yes, that's what I was hoping. Or that maybe i'd missed something and the DWG files were available from Toyota already. Stevsmith - Yes, you were almost spot on except for the fact that I was looking for a DWG file. I don't have a vector trace program, nor am I 100% sure what that is. Care you fill me in? Regards, Seth. Quote
stevsmith Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) When you zoom into an image, for example a jpeg or bitmap image the picture will start to brake up and pixelate when you get to a certain point. With a vector image this doesn't happen. It is similar to zooming in on a line in autocad. It automatically regenerates the line. I'm pretty sure adobe software like photoshop or fireworks can convert images to vector images. From there you can export it as a dxf format. Unfortunately I don't have these programs. You could try this site. http://vectormagic.com/home Also, on The blueprints website you can pay a small fee, think its about 5 quid for them to convert images to vectors. With this you get dzf and dwg files. It could be worth it Edited March 1, 2011 by stevsmith A little more info Quote
mathew21 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 adobe illistrator has a live trace option.. and i know you can save things created in there as dwg files Quote
stevsmith Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Thats the one I was trying to think of. Illustrator. Quote
sbro238 Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 So, I attempted to download and run a trial version of adobe illustrator on my computer to convert the jpeg to a dwg format, but I cannot get it to work. Infact, after an hour, the trial version was telling me that my 30 day trial was up. Can anyone convert this jpeg using a Adobe illustrator or similar for me? http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/cars/toyota/13694/view/toyota_land_cruiser_75_chassis_(1996)/ Quote
mathew21 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 i can try tonight after work for you.. the live trace option can be a little picky so you gotta get the settings right Quote
f700es Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Can't you just attach those images in CAD and draw over them? Pretty easy to do IMHO. Quote
sbro238 Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 Yes. But i'm afraid that it looks pretty terrible and my clients wouldn't be very impressed. Quote
mathew21 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 i was looking at website and it says you can request a vector version of that drawing. that would probally give you the best results otherwise do you have any versons of this you can post.. the one on the link is low quality on the preview page Quote
sbro238 Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 I requested a vector version, but I think it's on the basis of a vote, so it needs a few people to vote before they'll create and post a vector image. Quote
mathew21 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 ahh i was thinkin they had the vector image but you where required to sign up to get access to it so people dont just copy it just like that Quote
