platypus Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I recently installed AutoCAD 2008 and have noticed that many of my aftermarket hatches are note loading into drawings I created in ADT 2006. I've searched -----Docs and settings/User/ApplicationData/Autodesk/AutoCAD2008/enu-----to install my hatch files, but no Pats file. Any ideas on how I can install a batch of hatch files into AutoCAD 2008? Thanks! Henry Quote

I they are in your ADT 2006 just find the files from that version and copy them in the same location on Autocad 2008. You can find them here: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Autodesk\"AutoCAD 2008 or ADT 2006"\R1#.1\enu\Support Quote
lpseifert Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 at the command line type (findfile "acad.pat") to find where the 2008 .pat files are. Quote
platypus Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 thanks for the feedback. I did the copy paste of the 2 ADT 2006 hatch files into ACAD 2008 and I am given the same standard hatches. "findfile" is an unknown command? Lets say I downloaded a bunch of hatch pattern files and now want to install them into ACAD 2008, how would I go about this? I had all these extra hatches listed under "custom" in the hatch dialog box in ADT 2006 Quote
lpseifert Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Did you enter exactly as shown, with parenthesis and double quotes? (findfile "acad.pat") Are you using LT? Quote
platypus Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 you're right, I had not put in the parenthesis. So does this mean i have to copy in the code for each of the hatch .pat files into this acad.pat? No, I'm not using LT. Quote
ReMark Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I'd recommend that you use Notepad or any other ASCII text editor and copy the hatch patterns from one file to the other. Append the new pattern definitions to the end of the acad.pat file. You might also want to retain a copy of the original acad.pat file as a backup. Quote

Henry Hi Platypus I had this problem a while back I didn't have the .pat file under application data etc etc. Just create a .pat file in this location and drag all your hatches in there. Mine all worked fine after this. Cheers Dodge. Quote
hugha Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Add the directory containing your custom hatch pattern definition files to your Support File Search Path. The Tools/Options/File menu lets you do this. The directory can be anywhere within reason, for instance shared across a LAN. Your patterns will then show up on the hatch dialog Custom tab. Each pattern should be in its own separate file rather than in ACAD.PAT or ACADISO.PAT. Repeat as you upgrade again. It's simpler on the whole than copy/pasting into the standard pattern files. Quote
platypus Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 Thanks for the help everyone! Hugha, your advise worked. I tried following Dodge's suggestion, and was shown my .pat file in the custom hatches, but wasn't able to access the individual hatch patterns??? Anyways, we're up and working. Cheers Quote
