Bowl Shape

I don't know how to make a bowl type shape, like with straight edges then it's rounded at the top and hollow on the inside... Help me please?(:

Hi Samantha. Here's how I would do it: First, draw the shape of the bowl in cross section only as far as the center line. This can be any shape you want as long as it doesn't intersect itself.

 

Then use the revolve command like JD said above, and you'll get something like this:
