snivilous Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Hi, I have been designing a giant scale RC aircraft and want to see what it would look like prior to building it. From what I can gather, it's the loft command (on SolidWorks it is I believe, and the explanation in AutoCAD confirms it), or from what it seems could be Sweep or Blend. As an example, I have two bulkheads, and want to create a "mesh" or surface between them to see what the shape would be once it gets fiberglassed. I have tried doing it in AutoCAD 3D modeling, but it won't let me use 3D lines or surfaces to combine, and I have Inventor, though not sure what to do there... Based on what AutoCAD wants me to do, it seems I need to take two 2D lines/objects and then can create a surface between them, however I want to do this with 3D objects. Quote
snivilous Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 Can I attach it somewhere else? The AutoCAD 3D .dwg is 1.33MB. Quote
snivilous Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 Put it this way, if I have two cylinders (as in 3D extruded circles) that are off centerline of each other (in AutoCAD or Inventor), can I form a mesh that connects the two edges of the circles? Quote
SLW210 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Post a Screen shot. How big is the file when zipped? Have you tried using F1? Check on Surfaces, Extrude, Loft and Sweep. Quote
snivilous Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 For the first pic, I want to create a mesh between the edges of the wing ribs (green) so I can see what it will actually look like once covered. Same applies with pic 2 for almost everything (bulkheads, ribs, stringers, etc.) [All surfaces are 3D, not 2D] Quote
snivilous Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 I want to see something like this but have it formed around the internal structure I have made Quote
