I would use "Freeze in Current Viewport" for the ones you don't wanna see it in, but leave them thawed in Model Space. If you double click in a viewport, and go to your layer pull-down, you'll see a new button that looks like the snowflake on top of a rectangle. If you click on that, it will freeze or thaw whatever layer you want ONLY in the viewport you're currently in.

You will need to make a copy of the layer and use change space to put it into paper space viewport. Or you could make the layer a seperate drawing and Xref into the paper space viewport.

If you freeze something in Model Space it will be frozen in all viewports. Think of a viewport as a window into Model Space. If it isn't in Model Space (or hidden from view by being frozen), how would you look through a window and see it?

As already stated, you cannot thaw layers in viewports if they're frozen globally in MS. It's because of the flexibility of layers in viewports (and automatic dimension scaling) that I prefer to work on the model though viewports, rather than on the modelspace tab.

You could use Layer States to approximate something fairly close to what you described.

Layer States will get it close, good one nestly. If the OP would provide more detail, maybe even more solutions will result.

Not sure what type work everyone on here does, but I really have no concerns as to what my Model looks like, all of my final work is shown through the viewports. Just freeze layers in the viewports and the Model can be presented in as many different ways as you prefer. I am working on a layout right now with six different options, the model likes like ..... but each option is neatly presented through viewports in Layout Tabs.
