Bill Tillman Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 (edited) I have a panel which is designed out of aluminum tubes and it's in 3D. Some of these tubes are rolled to a radius. I have other tubes intersecting with these rolled tubes on a very rotated, compound angle. The tubes I have gotten in ok but I was wondering if there is a way to SLICE the tubes along an arc path. This will make my work easier to finish in lieu of crudely slicing each tube one at a time. UPDATE: OK I found that by copying the original arc into place near the tubes to be sliced and then inserting a line along the center of the 3D tubes to be sliced I got pretty close to what I need. I still had to slice the tubes one at a time but got through it relatively quick. I used the TRIM command to get the centerlines the length I needed and then when I ran the SLICE command I established the slice plane by using the ends of the centerlines that were trimmed along the radius. I would hope there is a better way to do this. BTW - This assembly will soon be installed in the new Florida Marlin's Stadium in Miami. It's going to be one of the special artsy features of the site. The guys in the shop are already complaining about compound miters and how to ship this large panel frame. Edited March 31, 2011 by Bill Tillman Quote
