Changing default material in iproperties

Recommended Posts

Why is it sometimes (in the .ipt module) I can go to iproperties and change the material type, and other times when I try to do this my only option is "default"?

Is the part a .step or .ices file or was it modeled in Inventor?

It was modeled in Inventor (.ipt environment)

When it wont let you change it, are you still in the Part Features application? Do you get to iProperties through the model browser part, highlight your part and right click?

The reason i ask is because i have never had that problem, i have tried going into various applications(studio, harness part etc) and it all ways lets me change it. The only thing i can this is if you modify the part by locking it or something along those lines.

I remember a while back I had the same thing, it was locked to default, I never needed to change it but I remember thinking something was wrong, I will have a look at work tomorrow and see if I can find the model.

If you can post the model here please do so we can have a look, or post a screen shot of the complete screen.

Check your project file. make sure you have use styles library checked (or something like that, I don't have Inventor up on my screen).

if the file has not yet been saved, it will not allow you to assign a material.
