this function used to work, but now it doesn't, could it have to do with what the program is set to open it? i recall there being more than one program to choose from under "open with" but i can only find one now. the files do open fine tho, so i don't know, maybe i just need to reinstall/repair the install? any thoughts?

When you hit the "open" button and the dialog box pops open, there should be a "views" pulldown menu somewhere near the top. Pull it down and select "thumbnails".

Well, that's how it works in Autocad....I don't have Inventor but it should be close to the same.

i don't see anything like that

the problem started when i installed the trial version of inventor 2011, it was probably kind of dumb to keep both 2009 and 2011 installed at the same time, but i didn't know what would happen, so now i uninstalled 2011 and i got the autocad previews to work, but not the inventor ones

hmmm...I dunno then. Thought that was pretty standard throughout all the product lines, but I guess not...maybe JD will pop in here in a minute. He's the resident Inventor guru.
