Autocad 2002 LT Freezes

Recommended Posts

Posted

Up until yesterday I was able to use AutoCAD 2002 LT on my laptop for work. Yesterday when I tried to open up the program it locked up my computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program multiple times in the last 24 hours.

As soon as I click on the open and/or new drawing icon the program locks up.

Any suggestions?

What OS are you running?

Had you made any recent changes to the software or hardware prior to the problem occuring?

Have you experienced problems with any other program locking up your laptop?

What other programs are running in the background? Example: antivirus or email program.

Is there enough free space left on the hard drive?

When was the last time you defragged the hard drive?

I am running XP SP3.

I recently added Microsoft Project 2007.

I have no other programs locking up on me. I have tried opening AutoCad both when Outloook is running and when it is not. I've got a virus scanner running in the background, but that was the case when AutoCad was working too.

I have 15.9 GB of free space on my hard drive.

I defragged about a month ago. I didn't think about doing that.

No need to repeat the defrag.

A messed up Registry entry? It's been awhile. AC 2002 LT must be on a CD right? Is there a Repair option on the CD?

No unusual occurences on the last day you used LT prior to the problem popping up?

I'll have to double check the disk (you would think I would know it completely after reinstalling so many times yesterday) on whether there is a repair option.

I installed the full version from a CD from our IT department. Nothing else was running in the background while it was installing.

You misread the question. I asked, when you UNINSTALLED AutoCAD LT how did you do it? If you did not use the uninstaller program via Add/Remove then you'll have bits and pieces of the program leftover where they don't belong. This can mess up your Registry.

Have you tried using a Registry cleaner (create a Restore point before you do)?
