i have drawing using autocad but the dimension is 50'-5" its in feet and inches..the prblrm is i want to convert into mertric.advise me what to do.thanks

You do not say what you want to do with the converted dimension.

If you merely want to know what the metric equivalent is arithmetically, then divide 5 (inches) by 12, then add to 50 (feet), then multiply the whole by 0.3048 and the answer is in metres.

If you have a dimension on the drawing, then activate Alternate Units and make the Alt scale factor 0.0254, and you will see metres as well as feet and inches.

There are other possibilities, but we are not mind readers, and can only give you help as you ask.

A friend of mine now has a similar problem and wants to locate a converter that works within Acad. He is flat lost, but from what I understand, he wants to convert MM to inches. He does not own a plotter, as I do, so has zero ways of converting over to anything.

Is your friend running full AutoCAD or LT? What version? Pre-2000 or Post 2000?

Either way, if non LT plenty of lisps around the net for calculators and convertors that can be used inside AutoCAD. Not sure exactly what version, but at some point AutoCAD included quickcalc which also provides some unit conversions.

the conversion ratio is .03937 or 25.4, this would be for milimeters
