I was working on some modifications to a previous drawing and needed to change the face color on multiple faces, about 40 of them ........ After using the command on a couple of them, I decided that an improvement is required or I'm not understanding how to pick multiple items with the same stroke of the command. What I'm asking is, is there a way to pick multiple faces to change multiple face color in just a few strokes or can a custom lisp file be created to speed this process up??????? o:)

I have no problem just selecting the faces I want and then ENTER then select the color. Then all the faces selected change to that color.

Command: _solidedit
Solids editing automatic checking: SOLIDCHECK=1
Enter a solids editing option [Face/Edge/Body/Undo/eXit] <eXit>: _face
Enter a face editing option
[Extrude/Move/Rotate/Offset/Taper/Delete/Copy/coLor/mAterial/Undo/eXit] <eXit>:
_color
Select faces or [undo/Remove]: 1 face found.

Select faces or [undo/Remove/ALL]: 1 face found.

I'd like to know if your 2011 happens to be different then my 2010. I can ONLY pick one face while the command is invoked.

Command: _solidedit

Solids editing automatic checking: SOLIDCHECK=1

Enter a solids editing option [Face/Edge/Body/Undo/eXit] : _face

Enter a face editing option

[Extrude/Move/Rotate/Offset/Taper/Delete/Copy/coLor/mAterial/Undo/eXit] :

_color

Select faces or [undo/Remove]: 1 face found.

Select faces or [undo/Remove/ALL]:

This is where I tried to pick a second face.......nothing

Please select an edge on the originally selected solid.

So I typed ALL......

Select faces or [undo/Remove/ALL]: all 2 faces found.

I tried to pick other faces.......nothing

Select faces or [undo/Remove/ALL]:

Please select an edge on the originally selected solid.

Select faces or [undo/Remove/ALL]:

Please select an edge on the originally selected solid.

Select faces or [undo/Remove/ALL]:

Please select an edge on the originally selected solid.

Select faces or [undo/Remove/ALL]:

Please select an edge on the originally selected solid.

Select faces or [undo/Remove/ALL]:

Please select an edge on the originally selected solid.

Select faces or [undo/Remove/ALL]:

Enter a face editing option

[Extrude/Move/Rotate/Offset/Taper/Delete/Copy/coLor/mAterial/Undo/eXit] :

Have you tried holding CTRL while selecting?

Posted

Yes I have tried the CTRL key as well as the shift key

how do I send you the dwg??????

Posted

Yes file uploaded.

Are you try to select the round solids? If so those are each separate solids, not separate faces. You can only color them 1 at a time using the solid edit command. I would just select them all and change their color in the Layer Manager.

Ok, I think you are telling me that if all the faces were on the same solid, then I could pick multiple faces, but since all the round rods are different solids then I need to do it thru layer color.

If you just want your 3D Solids One color, I would just use layers. The advantage of Color faces is to only have some of the faces a different color/colors than the rest of the solid.

I'm still experimenty with all of the 3D commands and that was one that I was totally confused on. You helped me with this very good. Thanks a bunch, Steve
