In 15+ years with AutoCAD I've never seen these. Now they're wreaking havoc!

What are these little blue boxes? How do I make it stop?

That's Selection Cycling. You can turn it off with the buttons on the status bar.

And AUTOCONSTRAIN, help should tell you how to tun that off and remove them if you want to.

The command CONSTRAINTSETTINGS opens the settings for those.

The default is on so if you didn't turn it off or did a repair it got reset. Also you'll see I edit my reply and add the other blue boxes in the first image.

Ohh, nice. Autoconstrain was the one causing alll the mess. Selection Cycling was just a little annoying.

Yes, and the icon to the far left on the status bar controls that in AutoCAD, however if you open a dwg exported from Revit or Inventor they may already be there.
