you mean the blue squares on existing lines right? You want to have them shown on an existing line while you draw a new one? Are you using OSnaps?

yes i on the OSnap, but say a polyline only have 4 grips originally, but i try to draw a new line on it by Osnap might become 6 to 10 point or grips in the new polyline.

so how can i see the exact existing grips while drawing a line line on the old line?

Turn off some of the Osaps (such as Mid point etc) then, that is where your extra grips are appearing to come from.

take special care to remove the NEArest OSnap, that is a pain and messes with all the other OSnaps

If you use Polylines, all the grip-postions are ENDpoints when you use OSnap. So if you remove all other OSNaps but ENDpoint, then you only see the grips.

Use _m2p to select points Middle between 2 points.

What is m2p?

This will not work if you do not have a command active. When in a command that calls for a point (Line for example) try typing M2P at the commandline. You are then given prompots to select two points and the result is that you get a point in the middle of these. It's easiest to try it for yourself.
