JimDavies Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Hi all, I have been trying recently to make some large panels that would have some organic looking shape. Apparently they are very popular in the architectural community. I have been told that you achieve something like this with Voronoi algorithms ??? Any ideas on that one? I know this is vague. I will try to upload some photos. Jim Quote
SEANT Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Look into this free plug-in for Rhino: http://wiki.mcneel.com/labs/panelingtools This plug-in allows all the preliminary modeling to be done with NURB surfaces, thus benefiting from the Rhino toolset. Once the model is finalized then the plug-in can be employed to subdivide the surfaces for fabrication. Quote
JimDavies Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 Thank you Seant, I have found something else while I was googling I will download some pictures and post again. Jim Quote
JimDavies Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 While I was looking for Voronoi parts I found this site that sells panels that I need. http://www.engrave3d.com/shop/category_7/Panels---Textures.html?shop_param=cid%3D%26 I will get some from them for now until I will apply the solution that I came across below There is a product called Grasshopper that automates Rhino commands and it produces these kind of surfaces. I think http://www.engrave3d.com made these surfaces this way. I have seen similar results in the Grasshopper site. Jim PS Sorry I could not find how to attach pictures but you get the idea I think.
