A few of our designers are just starting to use MEP at our company. Since most of our company uses AutoCAD 2011 and I'm in charge of creating deployments and licensing, I was going to load MEP 2011 just for consistency's sake.

But since there are only a handful of MEP users and we are on subscription, could they use 2012? Is it better, faster? Also, my thinking is maybe 2011 has more bugs worked out since it has a service pack.

Go with 2012. Some of the user interfaces have changed, thus if your going to have a little learning curve you might as well go with the latest. I used 2011 for a full 11 months or so and have now been using 2012 for about a month. No bugs of major concern and they have also expanded some fittings catalogs.

Agreed. Go 2012. Always better to just stay consistent with the latest versions with Autodesk, even though a service pack is already needed in some occasions that I've seen. ;)
