Spinxy Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Hi, Can anyone help with table styles/Data linked tables. inparticular when re-syncing the table from excel, cells that should be merged become unmerged. i have unchecked excel formatting, as i am using table styles used in autocad, i did try getting it to work starting with excel formatting, but couldn't get styles consistant, and text was much fainter. as it is now the tables are working well except for the merged cells!! Thanks Quote
elmoleaf Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 A bit late but... If you start with "excel formatting" unchecked when you set up the data link, then the Autocad table style generally governs the table's appearance. However, the irritating exception is merged cells...you can merge them in Autocad or merge them in Excel, but everytime you update the data link in this scenario, the cells will become unmerged. Locking the cell format in Autocad has no effect. In general, this type of data link performs quicker than the scenario below. If you start with "use excel formatting" checked, but with the "do not update option" when you set up the data link, here's what happens. If you have merged cells in Excel, they carry over to Autocad and stay that way, even when the data link is updated. If you merge cells in Autocad, they stay that way even when the data link is updated. However, the drawback here is your Autocad table style has limited control....you need to "remove all property overrides" to get the table to use your table settings for spacing from borders and font height. But, it will still ignore the font style chosen in the table style. In this scenario, the table comes in and uses fonts based on your font substitution settings (fontalt). Removing property overrides does not fix this. Changing the table style doesn't alter it. You need to manually change each cell to change the font itself. Or set your fontalt setting to your desired font prior to inserting the table. Note that Cell/Row styles will only adjust the font height, not the font style. The above comments are based on my experience with ACAD 2011. Quote
