vertical horizons Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I go to Tools > Application Options > Display > View Cube. I then select "Show The Compass Below The View Cube". I select OK, Apply then Close. The Compass appears. But, as soon as I open another drawing, the Compass is not there. I have to go through all of the motions again. Is there a way to have the Compass always appear, or do I have to go through those options every time? BTW, I am using IV 2009. Quote
Tyke Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 The system variable NAVVCUBEDISLAY controls whether you can see the view cube or not. It takes an integer value of 0 = off and 1 = on. The value of the system variable is stored in the drawing, so you will need to set it for each drawing. You could set up a button on a palette that would with a single click set the variable for you. jdits7 Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Tyke - He is using Inventor, that would be the variable you would change for an Autocad based product. Vertical - I am using Inv 2011 so it might be different for 2009 but you might have to open your template file and make the change in there. See if that works and let me know. Quote
JD Mather Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I don't remember back that far - but what happens if you hit the Spacebar while the command is active? Quote
kencaz Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 You get the old ViewCube when you hit the 'Space-Bar' which I liked a lot better. I wish they kept the option in the new inventor... KC Quote

I do not have a problem of seeing the VIEW CUBE. My problem is that, in order to see the Compass, I have to go through all of the prompts every time I open a new drawing. Quote
JD Mather Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 What happens if you hit the Spacebar while in free Orbit command (or did they call it rotate back then)? Quote

JD Mather Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Nothing happens. Did you just change your profile to 2012? (after starting this thread?) Quote
