hi all i have a burning wuestion ,

when opening a drawing , xref etc , you get a window that opens , now my question is the window that opens is smaller than i would like how do i get it bigger , i know you can drag the corner , but it always reverts back to the small window , when opening again. i remember on the previous versions of Auto Cad it would remember the size and stay the size you enlarged it to ...(iam currently using Auto Cad 2010)

Attached is an image if its not to clear as what i mean

I just tested this in my version of 2010. The window can be resized and relocated and these parameters are not only remembered in the current drawing session but even after AutoCAD 2010 is shut down and reopened. I've never had it work any other way that I can remember. What have you been "tweaking" recently that may have led to a change in the way your version operates?

"tweeking" not that i know of i only have add-ons such as extras , epress tool , water mate and surfmate , i have customised key board shortcuts , but thats about that. iam not sure what could have cause this to stop working , there should be a way to restore that function ? hopefully not reloading..

If you run just plain AutoCAD with no add-ons like Watermate and Surfmate does the problem go away?

NEVER uninstall/reinstall BEFORE trying the REPAIR option. That would be like changing all four tires on your car because one went flat.

Anyways, I don't think we are at that point yet.

not sure but try this

after resizing change value of "lockui" to 2 or 8 & close & reopen

I'm not sure LOCKUI will solve the problem. Mine is currently set to "0" yet my windows work just as the OP wishes his to work.

Are you using dual monitors? Make sure the dialog box is on the Primary Monitor. Not sure about all the windows/dialog boxes, but if you resize the "open a drawing" window and actually open a drawing with it, it should stay that size, if you just close it without opening a file it will reopen at the older size.

P.S. Are you using >? Try a named profile.
