meecpc Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Hi all, I hope someone here has an answer to this one. We have an old Xerox Synergix 8825 and just got a couple new pcs with Windows 7 on them. With the old Windows XP machines I can create an "XES TCP/IP port" for plotting. In Windows 7 I can't seem to find that option. Does anyone know how to do this or can direct me? Thanks Bill Quote
DANIEL Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 the current work around is to set the plotter as your default and then select the default printer in AutoCAD, windows 7 appears to have a compatibility issue with old drivers and or printers in AutoCAD where AutoCAD does not find any installed printers on the machine, and of coarse no one has an awnser and no one seems to care ...... even around here. tzframpton Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 We had a Xerox 8830 forever, and I never tried Win7 but got it to work with Vista 64bit. Are you sure the port is enabled? I think sometimes you have to go into a Properties section and create the port. Quote
DANIEL Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 here's the link to the discussion I started on this http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?58932-AutoCAD2004-printer-issue-in-windows-7 Quote
meecpc Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 That's the problem. In XP I can create the port. I W7 the options for "server Properties" in the printers section is not there. Quote
tzframpton Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Is there an I.T. admin you can send this over to figure out? That's what I always do. Quote
meecpc Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 In a company of 6, no. The IT admin is the first one to notice the problem. Quote
Hudlyston Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I'm not familiar with that specific plotter, but unless there is a specific proprietary TCP/IP interface that Xerox needs to talk to a printer on the network, just setting up a Standard TCP/IP Port and pointing it to the correct IP address should be enough to get the computer talking to the printer. The driver, on the other hand, could be more difficult to sort out. Based on Xerox's website, Vista drivers are non-existent unless you received them from AutoCAD 2007 or 2008 installation packages. I mention Vista because they don't even list Windows 7. Most Vista printer drivers should be compatible with Windows 7. I'm actually in the process of locating the drivers that Xerox mentions in my copy of 2007. I will update this thread if I find anything useful. Quote
BIGAL Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 What about maybe try a plot pdf then pdf to printer does this work now. Its 2 steps but may work If the Xerox supports postscript try postscript printer setup to the correct tcp ip port the postscript does not need a brand as its generic same as HPGL2 print language can get around a no printer driver. Maybe print to file then drag & drop file onto printer icon. You may need some help using PING to find printers TCP/IP Quote
SLW210 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Can you add the plotters to windows? Have you tried the ADD PLOTTER Wizards? Quote
