eric_monceaux Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I am a veteran of AutoCAD, but very new at Dynamic Blocks. I have created a simple Section Line block with Rotate, Stretch, and Flip actions, and it ALMOST works the way I need it to. The Rotate and Flip actions work fine, but the Stretch action is giving me a little trouble. If I use the Stretch action first, I have no problem, but if I rotate the block first and then stretch, the attached line will go backwards. I have tried linking the Stretch to the Rotate action, but when I do that it no longer maintains a polar stretch. I have included the DWG that I am refering to. (sec-ln.dwg) Help! sec-ln.dwg Quote
TimSpangler Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 You'll have to save it down to 04 I cant open it in 06 to try it. Is this what you are looking for? SectionCallout.dwg Quote
eric_monceaux Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 Yes that works perfect!!! What was doing wrong? Also, two quick things: 1. Is there a way to make this Dynamic Block scalable? Like to where I could click on an action and the entire block either reduce by 50% or increase by 50%? 2. Are there any good comprehensive tutorials on how to create Dynamic Blocks? Quote
wizman Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Yes that works perfect!!! What was doing wrong? initial setting of your angle parameter was set to 90 degrees causing the undesirable output after rotation. i set it to 0 degrees. Is there a way to make this Dynamic Block scalable? Like to where I could click on an action and the entire block either reduce by 50% or increase by 50%? for scaling, you can use anyone of these: 1. scale property in the properties flyout/toolbar. 2. scale parameter inside block editor, 3. visibility states with list parameter inside block editor, 4. annotative blocks. 2. Are there any good comprehensive tutorials on how to create Dynamic Blocks? 1. start in new features workshop included in acad's help. 2. there exists a lot of db tutorials, just google it. cadalyst/cadtutor/augi may have tutorials. 3. collect samples from internet/forums. we all learn from examples. 4. autocad comes with many dynamic blocks. just type adc to open design center. 5. cadtutor forum got lots of topics about db. i think its on the general cad area. lots of talented and helpful guys here. ABuckingham Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 2. Are there any good comprehensive tutorials on how to create Dynamic Blocks? Here are some free videos on creating dynamic blocks that are pretty good. http://dgcad.com/Acad2006-DynamicBlocks.htm Quote
eric_monceaux Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 Thanks for the help wizman and ABuckingham! Quote
SuperCAD Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 The AutoCAD White Papers available on Autodesk's site were a pretty good way for me to learn about dynamic blocks. It's a three part set (i.e. beginner, intermediate and advanced methods). Quote
