I'm working on AutoCAD 2011, and I've found that I've lost something as I've upgraded. A couple of versions ago the text style editor had a preview area where you could put in any text you wanted to see in the style. If you were looking to match a couple of the letters on a set of plans, you could put those letters in the box and then walk through the text styles to see how they will look. Now you only have the A, B, and C in upper and lower case. To see what it is going to look like on the "j" or the "t", you have to set the font style and the exit the dialog box to see the change. Anyone know if they just did away with that function, or if there is another way to go about it?

hey jayhawk261 you might consider "DDEDIT command" i think it can answer your problem (preview while editing)....enter that command then select your text then you can now edit it...its easy and faster (atleast to me)..hope it works to you as well. or other solution is the "QUICK Select command" this is used if all your text in the plan is organized under single layer..

check it here: http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/acadblog/use-quick-select-to-select-objects-in-your-autocad-drawing/

What's missing from that is the ability to put whatever text you want in that box. Previous versions had another little box next to that one that you could input what text you wanted to see in your circled box.

Rewind, I'll take a look at the DDEDIT command, and see what that will do. Thanks!

Oh I understand. I've never noticed that in any versions.

hey jayhawk, i think the reason they removed it on the older version is that the newer version of text style in ACAD nowadays defeats the purpose of the old version preview...in the latest ACAD preview once you change the font name it automatically displays the font style(text style)...so from there you can actually see what style you prefer... :)
