cduke5 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I went back and created a sheet set for one of our projects and clicked on publish. I selected my PDF page setup. It stops and makes me name each sheet as it is created. Is there a way to get it to create them all and use the layout name as the sheet name without stopping? ACAD 2006 Quote

tzframpton Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 I don't think AutoCAD 2006 has the DWG to PDF.pc3 plotter. You are using a 3rd party I'm assuming and that's where you're having your issues. Upgrading to a current version will give you what you need. You would have to use a high quality 3rd party program like Cadization AcroPlot Pro for your version. Quote

cduke5 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 cduke5@comcast.net SSM: Do you draw everything first and then put them in SSM or is there a better method? Quote
tzframpton Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 Either way works. Best method is to have a template that you work off of but it'll take you fumbling around in the SSM before you can create this. Got to learn to crawl before you walk, in other words. Best thing to get started is first off, build a Template file that has your Titleblock(s) in it. You need to position text and choose the appropriate fields for each line of text. That's basically the foundation right there. Then, just create a new Sheet Set. Go to the Model Views tab and set the location where your drawings files reside. Create Modelspace Views in the drawing files and use this to drag/drop onto your sheets. I think there's a good white paper out there floating on the internet. I'll see if I can find it. EDIT** Oh yeah, email sent. Quote
cduke5 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I revisited the SSM and of course I have a question. I have the whole job organized into subsets, in the correct order and the set sheet list works good but I can't get publish to work like I want. In ACAD 2006 there is no publish to pdf option. When I don't use the SSM I use a page setup that creates pdfs. Even though it pauses until I name each sheet it works okay. In the SSM, when I right click on the sheet set, click on publish, click on Manage Page Setups my pdf setup is there but when I open the publish dialog box in the SSM it doesn't show my pdf page setup as an option. Are there different page setups when you use the SSM? The ultimate would be if I could get it to create pdfs for all of the drawings in the SSM, name each one the sheet number I assigned in the SSM and put them in the folder I want. All without stopping. Is this too much to ask? Quote
tzframpton Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 It is too much to ask for 2006, yes. I believe 2008 or 2009 is when the DWG to PDF.pc3 plotter was introduced into the program. So if you can get approval for an upgrade, you will be in the clear not to mention a lot of other upgraded bells and whistles. You are running six years and six versions behind now. I'd say it's time for an upgrade, personally. Quote
