criscris27 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 hi! i have an A-A section of a cone. i want to change the UCS so that i can make it a 3D drawing. what are the commands? revolve is one of it, right? Quote
criscris27 Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 yes, but first i would like to change the UCS from the xy to an xyz plane, so that the cone would have the elevation paralel to the z axis Quote
ReMark Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Be my guest. Go ahead and change it. If you want to generate a complex circular surface model you could also use the revsurf command. Quote
criscris27 Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 gladly !!! but i don't know how to do that. can you tell me the exact steps? Quote
ReMark Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Oh, I see, there was a question in there after all. Sorry. Well I change my UCS via the UCS toolbar. Try it. Nice and simple. Quote
ReMark Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I tend to use the three toolbuttons marked X, Y, and Z (the ones with the curved arrow on them) along with 3point and Origin for most of my UCS manipulation. Look at the command line after clicking on one and follow the prompts. Quote
shift1313 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 also you will not be able to revolve your cone section. If it is a true cross section and you try to revolve it you will get a self intersecting surface and i do not believe autocad will like this. What you need to do is cut your section in half on the revolution line. Revolve will leave you with a solid Revsurf will leave you with a surface. If you need some help finding the ucs tools i can do a screen shot once i get to work. 3dorbit will let you rotate the view however you want, or right clicking off to the side where the tool bars are will let you select view(i think, cant remember the exact term). This will give you icons to click for top/bottom/front/back etc, and 4 isometric views. Quote
