Perhaps you mean Rollover Tooltips, which shows some of properties of objects when you hover mouse pointer over them. You can organize it to show or not show properties such as Color, Layer, Linetype, Linetype scale, Plot style, Lineweight, Hyperlink, Transparency (in new verions of AutoCAD). Quote

I think there is no way to change it, just you can turn it on or off by issuing OPTIONS command: Options-->Selection Tab-->Grips area-->Show grip tips toggle. Edited June 18, 2011 by Ahankhah Quote
