dwhalen Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 I am having trouble creating 3D text using the mtext->txtexp->extrude method. In particular, the number "4" breaks the extrude, which returns: Command: extrude Current wire frame density: ISOLINES=8, Closed profiles creation mode = Solid 26 found Cannot sweep or extrude a self-intersecting curve. 1 object removed from selection set. I have tried most of the available True-Type fonts, for the text but all give the same error. I can edit the polyline generated by txtexp by hand to remove the problem, but I am trying to automate the process. Any suggestions on how to get this to work? [software version: AutoCAD 2012 in Windows] Quote
ReMark Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Did you check any of the exploded text for line overlaps or one line being atop another? Try using the OVERKILL command on the number "4" (after exploding but before extruding) and see what happens. Quote
SuperCAD Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Try using presspull rather than extruding. I have much better results using that command. Also, if you have access to Adobe Illustrator, use that to export a DXF of the fonts that you need. AutoCAD's ability to explode text sucks, to put it lightly. Quote
