JasonMartinSimplex Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I can't figure out what is going on with Cad. For whatever reason cad won't let change layer colors once there are lines on it. You change the color and when you close the layer dialog box and layer color doesn't change...... I have Acad2012 LT Quote
ReMark Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I have had the same problem using the full version of AutoCAD 2012 and I know of others who have experienced it too. There is a post in the AutoDesk Discussion Groups for AutoCAD 2012 as well and I know that the person who started the post has a request into AutoDesk about a fix for the problem. I find that if I close then reopen the drawing things fix themselves. Quote
SLW210 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Have you tried going to _CLASSICLAYER? Hopefully they still have that. Quote
ReMark Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 The only "classics" I'm interested in would be the Doobies and the Eagles. I don't do "classic" when it comes to AutoCAD but thanks for the suggestion. Quote
JasonMartinSimplex Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 I don't know what the issue is. It is on a fresh install of the computer and it started doing this. It is really slowing me down because once a layer has had something on it you can't change the color. You have to start a new layer, move everything, and hope you don't have to change the color again. Quote

You have to start a new layer, move everything, and hope you don't have to change the color again. This has NOT been my experience at all. I close the drawing and reopen it. That alone is enough for the correct color to be indicated in the LPM and to appear in the drawing. Quote
JasonMartinSimplex Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 Not doing it for me. I have shut down autocad reopen it and the drawing and it still won't change the color. It works on the default drawing but won't work on anyother drawings I open. Quote
JasonMartinSimplex Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 How? It is already on their forums and they (Autodesk Admins) said nothing. The only other option is to call in which they charge $25-whatever they want Quote
JasonMartinSimplex Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 HAAAAA!!!! I figured out the error. It is in the name of the layer. It was only effecting me but not someone else in the office. The main difference is I use names like ## BACKGROUND ## so my layers are all the way at the top and not mixed in with the other layers. AutoCAD doesn't like some of the special charcters anymore. Once I took out the # symbols it would change again. It is still an error on their part but at least I know what the problem is. Quote
ReMark Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I have the problem and I do not use "unusual" layer naming conventions. Quote
SLW210 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I have the problem and I do not use "unusual" layer naming conventions. Everything you do is "unusual". Quote
JasonMartinSimplex Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 See if it does it for you. I can duplicate it here make a layer named ## BACKGROUND ## then try and change the color. Then delete all of the # out of it and see if will let you. I have done this on multiple drawings, old, new and default. There might be other things in the name as well. Try only using letters, then change it to all caps, then try numbers only, then a mix of numbers and letters, try only 2 letters, there is a method to the madness. Quote
KYLE_SIMPLEX Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 In case anyone is continuing to struggle with this error, the command prompt _CLASSICLAYER worked for me. Quote
