Creating objects using primatives and minimal triangles

Hey guys,

 

A lot of my work involves creating a second layer of modelling besides the primary model layer, in this layer I need to use primative shapes(boxes +spheres) to re-create the shape as best as I can with minimal polt/triangle account as possible.

 

I was just wondering if a plug in exists for this task? I.e redrawing shapes with primary objects.

 

Bit of a weird question but you never know.
