rengised Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 How to default Z into 0 elevation? I am editing drawing, everytime I am creating object I cannot fillet because its not coplanar. i have to flatten them. Quote
dbroada Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 by default everything should be at Z=0. A non 0 Z used to be caused by THICKNESS being set but I thought that had disappeared. Maybe you can check and if it is still available set it to 0 in your dwt file. I don't use flatten, I select all the objects and set their Z to 0 using the properties palette. Quote
KJB Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Not sure if this applies to AutoCAD 2007 but the following was copied from help. Use Object Snaps in 3D By default, the Z-value of an object snap location is determined by the object's location in space. However, if you work with object snaps on the plan view of a building or the top view of a part, a constant Z-value is more useful. If you turn on the OSNAPZ system variable, all object snaps are projected onto the XY plane of the current UCS or, if ELEV is set to a non-zero value, onto a plane parallel to XY plane at the specified elevation. Note: When you draw or modify objects, make sure that you know whether OSNAPZ is on or off. There is no visual reminder, and you can get unexpected results. Quote
nestly Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I have a feeling you're not on the World UCS. Type UCS, then WORLD ELEVATION = 0 will create your new geometry at 0 (for the current UCS), however if you're creating your new geometry by "Snapping" to existing Geometry, then you'll have to use the OSNAPZ variable otherwise it will inherit the Z value of the object you snapped to.
