JamFam Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Hello. I'm using AutoCAD 2010 and I am trying to create a wooden peg in 3D used for coat hooks. These pegs are about 3 or 4 inches long with a tapered base to fit inside a hole for mounting. The base of the peg sits flush on the wooden surface and has a wide base which is tapered to a narrow top. The top looks like a mushroom head. See attached photo. Is there a website that has these types of wooden pegs already drawn in 2D or 3D would also be helpful. Quote
SuperCAD Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Import that image into AutoCAD and trace the outline of it. Draw a line down the middle of the outline and trim off one half. Use PEDIT to join the lines and arcs into one polyline and then revolve it using the center as your axis. Quote
kencaz Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I think you would spend more time trying to find the files rather then just draw them. As SuperCAD stated. Draw a simple 2D profile and revolve around the center axis. KC Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Those are called Shaker pegs by the way. Fun to make on a lathe too! Quote
JamFam Posted July 11, 2011 Author Posted July 11, 2011 Excellent help. By any chance are there any online videos on what you've just explained? Though your directions seem straight forward. Thanks again. I always know where to turn when AutoCAD is getting the better of me. Quote
ReMark Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 For something as simple as this (revolving or spinning a profile about an axis) a video is hardly required but a simple search could probably turn up half-dozen hits if you use the words "AutoCAD"+"revolve"+"video". Quote
