Kitchen/cabinet door hinges?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a kitchen door hinge tutorial or something like that.

My problem is that i don't know how to make that pivot (red line).

You know with kitchen (cabinet) door hinges that it also moves the door

in the way the red arrows show.

I thing modeling a hinge like that is to complex for me. But for the beginning it

would be great to just have the movement on my door.

Have you gone though the built-in tutorials?

Yeah there are dozens of different styles. There are several different styles that have CAD files on http://www.mcmaster.com. for instances http://www.mcmaster.com/#cadinlnord/1612a55/=d5xor4

The hinge mate i was talking about in that video will let you mate the cad model so it only opens to its stop which is why i linked it for you. it doesnt have to be used in the simple example like I did in the video.

Drawing a conceiling hinge made from sheet metal is a bit more difficult. Typically someone designing cabinets would obtain a model of the hinge they are using. Most manufacturers have this data on their websites so thats always the first place I check. You can also look through the library in solidworks as well as 3dContentCentral. users and manufacturers upload their models to 3d content central all the time.

This tutorial features a toggle clamp, which is similar in principle to a concealed hinge. It might give you some ideas:
