CSNYDER Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I have a drawing that was drawn in metric format. when i export the face of the part to dxf its converted to inches. so lets say i have a part thats 25.4mm X 50.8mm. when i export the face to dxf format so our laser program has something to use. unfortunately when i draw the part using metric formats and export dxf it shows that part 25.4" X 50.8" is there something im missing? our laser program uses inches and we have a bunch of parts that are in metric that we are redrawing and converting to inches. i have found that if i go to document settings and turn the units from metric to inches and then export the face everything works out fine. but im nervous that parts might get missed and lasered at 25 times the normal size. anyone have any hints on what i can do. CSNYDER Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 when i draw a part i can input 20 and hit enter and it makes my line 20mm long. but when i export the face as a dxf and measure the line in autocad that line measures 20" long instead of 20mm long. so i draw the part in inventor. and convert it to dxf and open it in autocad and measure the part in autocad but it doesn't convert it correctly.
